Photographic Essays: Children Behind Bars

This is the world of young felons, of kids gone astray, of children as young as 10 who cry for their mothers from behind bars. In a juvenile detention center in Laredo, Texas -- and in similar places all over America -- children suffering from mental illness and drug addictions await trial or placement in concrete jail cells while the underlying issues that led to their behavior fester.
